Hey howdy hi everyone! 🙂
This week was sooo crazy and tiring. But it was SO fun! Today is 25 de Mayo which is like the independence day of Argentina! So… PARTY!
La Hermana Taylor (who I came with to the mission) and I traveled to Neuquén to go pick up our new companions. It was crazy to be on the other side. To not be on the newbie side. It is so fun to see the faith that the new missionaries have. They are ready to work and see miracles. They are just pumped full of energy juice!
My new companion is la Hermana Larson from Farmington, Utah. Another gringa! She is so cute and tiny! She reminds me so much of Suzie Larsen from the ward. 🙂 She is hysterical and doesn’t take crap. She is extremely humble and ready to work. She likes ballet and she is the oldest in her family. We are having a great time and we are practicing Spanish so much.
This week at church was AWESOME! The president of our branch gave a talk in church about faith. He shared a story about these people that were out on a boat and they needed wind to help them get to where they were going. They knelt and prayed… and nothing happened. They prayed again, but this time individually and as a group.. and nothing happened. They prayed that the Lord would give them wind so that they could continue where they were going. They caught themselves thinking ´why are we not getting wind? we have faith. we are praying’. After a while of waiting an older man got up and grabbed an ore and started rowing. The captain of the ship asked him what he ways doing and he meekly responded “I can be the Lord’s wind for now”.
Sometimes we think that faith will bring miracles, and it does! But sometimes we forget that when we pray in faith the next step is action. starting on your knees and then getting up on your feet and doing something about it is the most effect way to see progression in your own life and conversion. Pray in Faith and then get up and do something about it.
I am learning so much, even just in these last two or three days with Hermana Larson. I am praying so much for direction and guidance so that I can help direct and guide this new Hermana.
This week I learned that God gives us Faith. Before my mission, I never noticed how important the principle of faith is. But really, it is the first principle of the gospel! Faith is the kindle to the fire of the miracles. It is by faith that we will be cleansed of our sins. and it is by the faith that we will see the face of Christ again.
I hope that we can all follow the invitation that Christ gives us when he says follow me so that we can arrive in front of him and hear the phrase that Enos tells us in the last verse in Enos.
Vamos Vamos! Happy. Energized. And Working I am. 🙂
I’ll See You Soon,
Hermana Janessa Houston
