Week 26 – April 27th, 2015 Food Storage is So Important

Well howdy do y’all!! ๐Ÿ™‚

So who heard about the volcano that erupted in Chile? Bueno, it
erupted twice and we got a call from our district leaders that we
needed to drop everything we were doing and go buy food enough for 3
or 4 days. We went and did it. We bought cake and fries and dulce de
leche…. no i’m kidding. We bought all the essentials and then we
headed to the pension (our apartment). We were told that the next day we would be
staying in our pension because of the ash that we might be seeing. We
woke up and no ash. So we continued spreading the word. ๐Ÿ™‚ Luckily,
here in Esquel we are pretty safe and nothing from the volcano has
come. Most of the mission was actually stuck in their pensions because
of the ash and everything. So I am just very happy that we are fine
and dandy, cuz we are. ๐Ÿ™‚

(That is why the subject line says that food storage is important…
because if a natural disaster happened we would need to be prepared.)

This week we traveled to some awesome waterfalls and the views were
amazing. This place is beautiful and I just want to hike and hike and

We found a man named Miguel this week. He is about 55 years old and he
lives with his daughter and he is here in Esquel for work. He has
about every musical instrument you could imagine. He doesn’t know how
to play any of them except the piano but he has a VIOLIN. Other than
all of that he is very nice and very open to hearing our message. We
are so excited to go back and let him know what we preach and walk
around all day. So pray that his heart will be soft and his mind open
and his soul receptive to the spirit.

I am currently reading the New Testament of the Bible. I am trying to
get to know my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ more. It is amazing to be
able to read his teaching directly from the words he said and
preached. I am also reading the Book of Mormon again and wow, that
book, is the medicine to this world. Read the scriptures! I know that
the scriptures are the words of God and that we can learn so much from
them and all that they teach us. I am so grateful for the prophets
that wrote them and kept the records so that we could know where to go
for hope in this world.

I learned so much about God this week. I learned that as we come
closer to our Lord and Savior and our Father in Heaven we will be able
to see our weakness more. This seems almost backward no? but really it
is true. We can see our weakness better but then we learn through the
scriptures and teachings of the prophets how to better our weaknesses
and keep bettering ourselves. Coming closer to Christ means seeing our
weaknesses but also knowing how to strengthen them. (ร‰ther 12:27).

Life is great! But the mission life is better! yes, it is hard but it
is the best. I am loving this.

Thank you so much for all the prayers and support. I love my family
and my friends and my home ward so much. Keep it up, folks, it sure is
dang worth it all.

We went to these awesome waterfall things in Trevelin for p-day!
See You Soon,
Hermana Janessa Houston
